Light-Emitting Wallpaper

Industrial Designer Jonas Samson designed a new way of lighting up and at the same time decorating a room with the so called “Light emitting wallpaper”. With Jonas Samson's high-tech light-emitting wallpaper it's possible to use a two-dimensional flat surface as light source instead of a 3D object.As long as the wallpaper is turned ‘off’, it is indistinguishable as a source of light. Instead, it is just what it appears to be: wallpaper.
Samson presented his work this year in Amsterdam at the “Design Scoops” show. It’s not in production yet.

Kingston Chandelier - Modern Antique Lighting Fixture

Some people call this style a “Art Nouveau”, but here at Casa Di Luce we call it “Modern Antique”. It has a lot of common features with a classy antique lighting – clean lines in distressed metal imitating patina, thick glass shades in amber or matt white that create cozy and warm atmosphere anywhere in the room. Wall sconces of this line look like torches that ancient Greeks and Romans used to mount to the walls to light up their way through the dark stone corridors.

"Cell" Pendants

John Wischhusen is an industrial designer working with light. His latest creations are part of a larger project “The Cell Project”
One of them is Clam - a pendant light with 12 individual light sources it is formed from 36 individual pieces and is manufactured from polished aluminium sheet. It measures approximately 500mm diameter.
Clam is another proof of the variations of a metal construction, that consists of a single construction element. That reminds me of the endless abilities of Lego our daughter used to play with.

New Look at Murano Glass

The designer of this modern crystalchandelier combined two most famous materials in the world of lighting – Murano glass and Swarovski crystal. A beautiful glass vase with murrinas enclosures inside has a one-of-a-kind pattern that’s always different from one chandelier to another. The look is finished with light blue Swarovski Strass crystal pendants. Catching the light they reflect it on the vase creating fantastic variations of color.

The Lamp That Gives Light

A young British designer Gary Wilkinson has created a new lighting fixture – table lamp “Affection Shoii”. It’s the second lamp from the serious inspired by Japanese culture that is becoming more and more popular in the westerm hemisphere. A small lighting fixture is constructed in such a way as if embracing a tiny flower, giving it light. I understand it’s just a concept by now, waiting for its manufacturer. Another Japanese Innovation

A nice innovation for those who do not stand the smell that comes from burning candles. Japanese design company Metaphys started production of a new lighting fixture “Hono” that looks like a candle and has a light diode inside. You can easily light it up with magnetic match, and blow it off like a regular candle. The source of light is a simple small battery or a corresponding accumulator.
The diameter of this lamp is 16 mm, the height – 27 cm. The price for “candle”+”match”+accumulator is approximately $ 90.
